I have not done this before but I can see how it would work will in a reference situation. It allows for a lot of back and forth. I used to think I was a good multi-tasker, but maybe not. I find it easier to do one thing at a time. I think I would find instant and constant access at little stressful. I would also want to jump right to it, no matter what else I had planned to do that day.
I'll just contemplate the sunset instead.
See, I can do a photo.

Oh, wow, bbuck, you sure can do photos. That's beautiful.
I recently heard an interview with the author of Brain Rules, in which he says that the brain can only focus on one thing at a time, and multitasking leads to mistakes and lowered productivity. So when we're really trying to work out something that takes thought, we're better off creating an interruption-free space for ourselves.
He also says that our brains don't pay attention to Boring Things - no wonder we'd rather jump into the blogs/im/etc . .
Altho I am the princess of multi-tasking of tasks, I cannot talk and work at the same time. Never could, and I've given up trying. I guess I use most of my brain while talking, and I can't apologize for that! So don't feel bad; I believe that writing needs just as much concentration as talking, if not more. At least while talking people don't know if you cannot spell a word.
